autumn in austin

Catching up a little bit...had a lovely wee trip to Austin to visit my good buddy Kevin from seminary. He was in Texas for a couple of weddings and so I went up to hang out. I haven't seen Kevin in a couple of years (that's just crazy) and so it was awesome to catch up.

We had famous Amy's ice cream...(in dark chocolate!)...

...heard some classic Texas hippie country music at the Continental Club...

...and even had a pint & food while seeing indie documentary "Catfish" at the Drafthouse Cinema. It's a fantastic movie (as was the "510" local pale ale & chicken strips). I really recommend it all.
What a lovely city.

We met at Jo' coffee shop on South Congress (that's so trendy they now call it "SoCo" ha). I think Irish plants could use knitted scarves like this (and maybe not Texan ones).

It was great to hear some fun music, enjoy Texas' version of autumn that means a slight coolness in the air, appreciate a city that's slogan is "Keep Austin Weird" and talk ministry and life in general.
