that's me

-Having a theological discussion with my co-worker in which he said, "If I had three words to describe you, they would be 'liberal, heretical and apocalyptic.' " Why do I take this as a compliment? :)

-Reading a text that made me laugh out loud.

-A lovely quiet evening spent at a quaint bohemian bistro pub, where I sat perched by the window surrounded by colorful cushions and candlelight reading a book. Everything about the atmosphere was perfect, especially the music that included Frank, Nat and Billie.

Liberal and heretical I can understand, and I probably share those traits with you. But apocalyptic? Please explain.

Hmm well I like apocalyptic in terms of speaking about the breaking in of God into the world to re-order its systems and usher in the reign of God's kingdom both now and at the end of things...not in terms of walking around wearing a "The End is Near!" sandwich board.:)

See, the problem with that is Whitney, you've been reading your Bible too much. Things are really a lot simpler if we just stick with the escapist, pseudo-Gnostic dualism the church has so vigorously defended for the last few hundred years. :)

I think you would look cute in a "The End is Near" sandwich board...plus tin foil on your head to keep the aliens from reading your thoughts...

You "theologians" are hurting my head. :)

Everyone seems to be concerned about the End Times, and no-one is asking the more obvious question, the more important question, namely:

What text were you reading that made you laugh out loud?

I was reading a text from my friend Catherine (who I saw Glen Hansard with). I was kinda grumpy and she replied "Games that never amount to more than they're meant will play themselves out," which are the lyrics of one of his songs. It was really timely, but made me laugh because of how things always come back to Glen. :)
